Emanuel Perathoner is a name that stands for passion, grit, and longevity in the world of snowboard cross. Representing C.S. Esercito, the South Tyrolean athlete spent nearly two decades at the top of his sport, leaving a legacy as one of Italy’s most consistent and successful riders.
He made his World Cup debut in January 2003 in Innichen, where he already placed a strong 14th. Just two seasons later, he broke into the top ten with a 7th-place finish in Nassfeld-Hermagor. His real breakthrough came in the 2009/10 European Cup season, where he landed one win, two second places, and a third, securing 3rd place overall. He followed that up with two more victories the next year and finished 7th in the overall standings.
His first World Cup podium came in Veysonnaz in the 2011/12 season, where he finished 3rd. Over the following years, he steadily climbed the ranks with numerous top-10 finishes, including a 12th-place finish in the overall standings for the 2013/14 season.
Emanuel represented Italy at multiple World Championships, with his strongest result coming in 2019 in Park City, where he claimed the bronze medal in the individual event and just missed the podium with a 4th place in the team event. He also competed at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, finishing 15th in the individual snowboard cross.
In December 2018, he celebrated his first World Cup victory in Cervinia, a career highlight that came after years of dedication and close calls. He capped off the 2018/19 season with 6th place overall in the World Cup standings, a result he repeated the following year — again stepping onto the podium in Cervinia with a 2nd place finish.
Over the course of his career, Perathoner competed in 97 World Cup races and finished in the top ten 23 times. Known for his smooth riding, tactical instincts, and team spirit, he also won two World Cup team events alongside Omar Visintin — in Erzurum and Moscow.
